Morning: cycling tour
08:00 – 08:30 Pick-up from your Chiang Mai hotel by your guide. Depart by vehicle to Mae Taeng district, north of Chiang Mai (one hour’s drive) to reach the starting point, a local restaurant in the valley.
09:45 All ready for bike fitting a brief safety talk on bike riding, mandatory helmets, and depart on this two wheels discovery trip. The valley is all flat, so easy to pedal for everyone. Your guide will be on hand to show you the insight of the farmers daily life. We will make a few stop along the way, learning about rice farming, and enjoying sights of all year green rice paddies. We also will stop at a local market and the impressive Wat Ban Den Temple.
After the Temple exploration, we cycle back to our starting point, for a succulent Thai food lunch in tropical garden setting. The total loop is 20km (12 miles) and usually takes two hours.
12:30 Enjoy a delicious Thai set lunch in the garden.
Afternoon: river kayak trip
13:30 After a good rest, it’s time to get in the water. Your guide will conduct a short paddling and safety briefing and show you how to use the kayaks. Additionally, participants not comfortable with the kayak can practice their paddling skills in the small pond, before we hit the river. No worries, as our experienced team will provide tuition and adequate equipment to run a smooth trip.
13:45 We transfer to the nearby Ping river flowing in the valley and our kayak trip starting point. After a short briefing, embark on the kayaks and paddle, or simply drift with the current, observing the scenery along the river bank.
The descent will take approximately one to 1 1/2 hour, depending of river flows and paddling stance. Eventually we’ll make a stop on the river bank for a great picture opportunity and take a rest.
15:45-16:00 Arrival time! we disembark at the ending point where we’ll have a refreshing drink, and perhaps a swim in the river. Shower and changing facilities are available, with towels provided.
16:30 Hop in our vehicle for a drive back to Chiang Mai city (one hour’s drive). Drop off at your hotel, or airport.
-End of the trip
During high water levels (raining season) or low water levels (dry season), the river descent will be replaced by a paddling trip on the nearby Mae Ngat dam lake, which is adequately beautiful.
