Trip Overview
From Chiang Mai, experience fantastic mountain biking, discovering small hill tribes villages and witnessing authentic rural life. A rich cultural experience and an active 2 days trip. Doi Chiangdao mountain area provides wonderful scenic views of Thailand’s third highest peak.

Itinerary
- Day 1 Chiangmai – Chiangdao (around 30 to 40 km cycling / 25 miles)
- After breakfast, pick-up at your hotel and drive in covered pick-up truck north to Chiangdao area. Stop at an elephant camp nestled in lush jungle surrounding. Watch the elephants bathing and demonstrating their skills. (Optional, only for participants wanting to visit).
Then we start our bike ride along typical rural back-roads, and then along a great off-road trail, crossing a beautiful landscape and leading to small hill tribe villages. Visit Lahu, Lisu and Akkha villages, also discover the Palaung people, who originate in Myanmar and have only a few settlement in Northern Thailand. After a visit of the villages, and a refreshment, we ride a few kilometers to the Padeng Lodge, where we spend the night (simple accommodation). The rest of the evening is a good shower and relax before having an excellent Thai dinner.
[Meals: Lunch, Dinner] - Day 2 Chiangdao – Chiangmai (around 40 km cycling / 25 miles)
- Today is an easy cycling day in great natural surroundings! Most cycling is on paved road, though the first section is a great off-road trail. While cycling is easy, the escort vehicle is always around! Afternoon cycling mostly on small paved roads to reach the Chiangdao caves. Explore the caves and relax until we will have our vehicle transfer back to your Chiang Mai hotel.

General Information
Departure possible all year long as a join or private tour basis. English speaking tour guide. Quality TREK mountain-bikes are provided. Spare parts and tools are provide with the support vehicle, as well as water and snacks. Participants must bring personal cycling gear including shorts, good shoes, eventually bike gloves and sunglasses. Helmets are compulsory whilst riding and we can provide one if you don’t bring your own. The best season, as it is the cool season is from September to end of February. March through May are very hot and dry months. We also like to ride the month of June as it is usually very green lush and cooler. July to September is the raining season, so expect to ride muddy trails.
Accommodation
Overnight at Padeng Lodge: rustic accommodation in Thai wooden house. Private rooms, sleep under mosquito net. Western style toilets and hot showers facilities outside the room.
